Managing chronic diseases (especially diabetes) requires continuous blood sugar monitoring and lifestyle management, but some patients, such as pregnant women, have low access to medical care or feel anxious about daily management[21]. Existing blood glucose meters require inserting a sensor into the body, and CGM devices are expensive and burdensome. General apps rely on manual input, making it difficult for users to manage consistently.

Doctors' appointments are only a few minutes a month, leaving patients to struggle with anxiety on their own the rest of the time[22].

DiabetesPro is a small device combined with a smartphone + an AI coaching app. It creates a Digital Metabolic Twin using only the user's lifestyle data, without a separate continuous glucose monitor, to accurately predict blood sugar changes[23]. When the user enters meals, exercise, sleep, etc. into the app, the AI simulates blood sugar changes through a virtual metabolic model, enabling precise blood sugar management without a CGM.

It also provides customized diet/exercise guides and family-linked management, implementing family-based care where family members can share and encourage each other's health data[24]. In addition, gamification elements such as notifications and mission assignments (e.g., post-meal walk mission) increase user participation, and food-tech integration that earns points for health activities and uses them for nutritional supplement discounts is also a feature[25].

As a result, it acts as an AI health assistant that stays by your side 24 hours a day, replacing a doctor.

Individual diabetes patients and high-risk groups (B2C) directly purchase and use the product. In particular, pregnant women with gestational diabetes, middle-aged diabetics, and pre-diabetics are the main users.

In addition, hospitals or insurance companies (B2B) may adopt it as a patient management program and provide it to patients, or it may be provided for employee health management as part of corporate welfare.

It has the potential to succeed in the global digital health market beyond Korea. It can be used in emerging countries where CGM is difficult to distribute, and the AI coaching platform can be expanded to manage other chronic diseases such as high blood pressure in the future.

It is also expanding into a food-linked healthcare business in combination with Daesang Wellife's nutrition business. However, approval and clinical evidence acquisition in each country are required according to medical device regulations.

It received great attention as a Best of Innovation award winner in the digital health/mobile device category[26]. It was praised as a "game changer in diabetes management" in that it helps manage diabetes without time and place restrictions. The technical completeness (version 1.0 domestic award history, etc.) has already been proven[25].

However, experts believe that sustained user participation and data accuracy are key to success. Although the reaction at CES was very positive, it is also pointed out that it must gain trust in the market only after sufficient verification in the actual medical field and improvement of user habits are sufficiently proven.

Currently, expectations are high, but there is some caution until the evaluation after actual commercialization.
