Correcting golf swing posture is difficult without a professional coach, and swing analysis devices must be attached separately, which is cumbersome. It is also difficult to recognize one's own problems because feedback is not received immediately at the driving range.
The G-grip Pro golf club has a built-in sensor that measures swing trajectory, speed, and angle in real time, and AI analyzes this data to provide immediate voice coaching [79]. For example, it provides on-the-spot feedback such as "Your backswing is too fast" or "The clubface was open at impact," allowing golfers to make corrections on the spot.
It has the precision to measure the movement of the club in millimeters, capturing even subtle differences in posture, and also suggests personalized weakness analysis and customized practice programs based on accumulated data. It is differentiated by innovating from existing golf sensors that only provided feedback through smartphone apps to real-time voice coaching from the club itself [80].
Golf trainees and amateur golfers (B2C) purchase it for personal practice, and golf academies and driving ranges (B2B) can rent/sell it to members.
The golf tech market is forming in countries with large golf populations such as the United States, Korea, and Japan, and demand is expected to exist. Currently, it is in the form of a practice club, but it can be expanded to modularization by attaching only sensors to general clubs in the future. It can also be applied to other sports such as tennis rackets in addition to golf.
Called "AI coach for individual golfers," it attracted attention in the CES sports tech field [81]. It received good scores for the practicality of the idea, even though the technical difficulty was not high. However, there are indications that it is necessary to further verify how effectively actual users will accept voice feedback and the completeness of the equipment, such as waterproofness and durability.
⚠️ The technology is impressive, but the market is uncertain (it provokes golfers' interest, but the evaluation of long-term usability and coaching replacement effects needs to be monitored further).
