There have been attempts like the Tesla Solar Roof, but they are expensive and difficult to mass-produce.

The SolarSaga Barrel Tile is the world's first mass-produced curved solar tile, adopting a multi-curved design with a 150° curvature like traditional clay tiles [81].

By arranging special ultra-thin (0.13mm) crystalline silicon cells on this curved surface, it achieves a high energy efficiency of up to 25% [82].

We have developed a method to closely attach thin cells to the curved surface, efficiently absorbing sunlight from various angles and maximizing daily power generation.

In addition, the surface texture is finished to resemble actual roofing materials, making it difficult to distinguish from ordinary tiles when installed on the roof [83].

It meets building material standards such as waterproofing and load support, allowing it to replace roofing materials without a separate panel structure [84].

As a result, the greatest value is that solar power can be installed without damaging the aesthetics of the building.

Homeowners (B2C) and construction companies (B2B) of new/renovated houses are the core customers.

Demand is especially high in areas with many curved tile houses, such as Spanish tile roofs.

In addition, local governments may be interested in public projects (B2G) because this product may be allowed in areas with solar power regulations, such as cultural heritage buildings or scenic districts.

Jackery is known for its existing portable power sources, but this product marks its full-fledged entry into the residential BIPV market.

In the future, it is possible to expand products for various architectural forms such as flat solar roofs and wall-mounted solar panels.

If a mass production system is established, price competitiveness will increase, contributing to the acceleration of solar power distribution.

The only variable is the level of initial installation cost compared to general panels, but according to Jackery's announcement, it is promoting that it can produce 700,000 kWh over 25 years based on a 100㎡ roof and is economical [85].

As a CES 2026 Innovation Award winner, it has attracted attention from both the energy and construction industries.

As the review says, “Inconspicuous solar power,” the fact that it solved the aesthetic problem was rated the highest.

Eco-friendly media such as CleanTheSky welcomed it as a realistic solution for building-integrated solar power [86], and it was also recognized for its design completeness, winning the Good Design Award [85].

Meanwhile, experts point out that waterproofing and durability verification are key during actual construction, and also gave realistic advice that structural reinforcement costs may be added if it is heavier than the existing roof.

However, overall, expectations are higher than underestimation.
